Try this sam. This problem will take two steps. First use this little trick to find x. x=x and y=x. Note: use this just to find x in first step! 2x + x = 6 3x=6; x=2 substitute it in just for you x now. 2(2) + y = 6; and now find y 4 + y = 6; minus 4 from both sides +y = 6-4 y=2 ;and substitute in. 2(2)+2=6 4 + 2=6 and you answer is true! again: x =2, y=2 Hope this works out!

If you want this in slope-intercept form, all you have to do is subtract the 2x from both sides.
