the segment across from the 90 degree angle is always the hypotenuse. depending on which angle your refering to now, the adjacent is the other segment touching the angle and the opposite is the segement across from the angle.

the side opposite to the right angle will always be the hypotenuse. to be adjacent or opposite in depends on the perspective of the angle
