If you look back at your other question I explained how to do it.(x-5)/4=1/2(x-5)/4=.5        *4 *4(x-5)=2   +5 +5x=7(7-5)/4=.5 (or 1/2)I wish you luck in solving multistep equations!

ok I know reasonz already answered the question but I thought it was kind of confusing so if you agree this is my way to explain...so first multiply the equation on both sides to get rid of that fraction because nobody likes fractions. So we multiply it by 4. that will leave us with {x-5=2}. now to get X by itself we add 5 to both sides. This cancels out the -5 and so it will change the equation to be {x=7}. Now we know the value of X! But in case you need it. If you want to check if you are correct, just plug 7 back in! so lets do this in PEMDAS. Parenthesis go first so (x-5) will turn to 2. Then 2 divided by 4 is 1/2. That is correct so you know that you have the right answer!

_x-5_  = .5    44 x.5 = 2x- 5 = 2  +5   +5x = 7
