I havent taken it yet, but my brother took it and he said that it was quite hard, mostly because of the time constraints

Answered by ML - 12 months ago

Nothing is easy if you're not prepared.
You must be somehow prepared to realize something is easy.

Answered by hanahan - 12 months ago

Nope not at all

Answered by JerrySoBlue - 1 year ago

Not everyone LOL

Answered by JerrySoBlue - 1 year ago

I took it this sophomore year with absolutely no prep classes and it showed my strengths and weaknesses to the extreme. The test itself isn't difficult unless you are person that becomes stressed under time constraints. Now I know what I should work on in preparation for the next PSAT, and finally the SAT itself. The purpose is not do well, just prepare you for the SAT so I do not believe the difficulty of the test should be of much concern. Hope I helped and good luck!

PSAT YAYAYYAYYAY. Im taking this in three years. so how old am I?

Answered by NoraYa - 1 year ago

Uhhhh what other said?

Answered by ChromeRedCat - 1 year ago

it is a shorter version of SAT taken in october in junior year. It is out of 240 pts all 3 sections ( math, critical reading and writing are worth 80 pts maximum) typically if you get a high score you can get a scholarship and become semi-finalist/finalist. Each state has different criteria to qualify for the scholarship. Different scores can help qualify in different states

Answered by GURUKID - 1 year ago

Preliminary SAT. Its almost like practice for the SAT or a quiz showing your strong and weak points so you can practice for the SAT.

Answered by tori. - 1 year ago

Preliminary Scholastics Aptitude Test. This is basically a practice test for the SAT. You can take it as a sophmore and again as a junior. Though colleges only really look at your results as a junior.

Answered by taquan001 - 1 year ago

I would recommend that your friend visits " www.collegeconfidential.com" , he can use a tool called college search in order to find colleges that suit his interests best. Also, he can create an account and find answers to other questions he may have in forums. Finally, he can go to collegeboard(for students) and find requirements for specific colleges. I hope the question is answered.

Answered by Selena - 1 year ago

What? Ok. What What_Ok said. lol

Answered by ChromeRedCat - 2 years ago

U.C are good and you pretty much need a 4.0 to get in though

Answered by What_ok - 2 years ago

Talk to your counselor.  you should take the test in the fall of both your 10th and 11th grade years.  we had ours in october.  the 11th grade year is when you can make a run at being a national merit scholar.  the 10th grade year would be practice for you

Answered by brunnermath - 1 year ago

What others said.

Answered by ChromeRedCat - 1 year ago

no

Answered by Dzire002 - 2 years ago

Best thing to do, ask your counselor. There should be a PSAT booklet provided somewehere, so get it. I myself will be taking it in a month as well. I'm just going to go through the brighstorm course, and use the booklet. It actually doesn't really matter how high you get, since it's basically a practice for the SAT....Preliminary SAT. Unless you're aiming for a shcolarship that is. It'll be pretty hard to get the scholarship, so I'm just going to lay back, relax, and just use BrightStorm to my advantage.

Answered by Gentou - 2 years ago

Nah it's fine. What I recommend you do is just do practice problem after practice problem each day. Spend 20 minutes or 40 minutes and do a section or two from a PSAT booklet. The key to passing the PSAT and SAT is understanding what the makers are thinking. So just continue doing practice problems until you can do them in your sleep! Also a few before days before your PSAT, go to sleep early and wake up when you would wake up on test day. Get your body conditioned to wake up early and be able to think straight. Eat a good breakfast, don't forget your calculator and number 2 pencils and your all set. Good Luck!

Answered by JinSuk001 - 2 years ago

you can still take the test even though your korean. the college board is not racist.

Answered by yvettekimmy - 2 years ago

Of course it's okay. I'm not American either, but if someone understand Korean, then you can definitely ask your question. Sometimes people don't get me either, because I know another language. You should be proud of your ethnity!

Answered by Glee - 2 years ago

Kamel pretty much got that right on the head. The two options you have if you need to ask questions in korean then talk to the school before the day that you take it...ask them

Answered by Roecker001 - 2 years ago

What do you mean? if you are asking that if it's OK that you are not an American? the answer is:
 Absolutely. It's OK.
but if you are asking that if it's OK to ask a question in Korean? the answer is:
Well, it depends. if you can write in Korean here and someone and read it, then go for it!
regards,
Kamel

no it is just to get a feel for it but you can get a scholarship if your good enough!

Answered by Lukas - 2 years ago

No, but it is great practice for the SAT and if your score is good enough you can get a scholarship :)

Answered by manupra - 2 years ago

no, but you should so that you would have a better idea of what your SAT score would look like

Answered by yvettekimmy - 2 years ago

It's not required, but it might be helpful in preparing for the SAT, and other standardized tests. Also, it might help you get a scholarship, which would be helpful if you are planning on going to a four-year college.

Answered by Pathfynder - 2 years ago

no, psat is not required for every high school student. But it is a great way to practice and learn what's on the sat when you take it later. The questions on psat are similar to those on the sat, and usually people get a low score on psat and then they go over which they got wrong and practice on that, and when they take the sat, they will get a better score.

plus, when you take psat in eleventh grade, if your score is high enough, you will be seleceted as one of nation's merit scholar, it's a great honor and colleges will give you a better chance than someone who is not a nationalmerit scholar.

Answered by Glee - 2 years ago

no you don't have to take the psat

Answered by yvettekimmy - 2 years ago

You do not have to take the PSAT, it all depends on the school that you go to. For example, my school requires that students take the PSAT in 10th grade, and then it is optional after that. Otherwise it is a choice, and a pretty good one if you want a scholarship or practice for the SAT.

Answered by Sadie - 3 years ago

no, but you should for practice

Answered by balletdancer - 3 years ago

YOU DO IF YOU WANT TO SAVE MONEY AND WIN A SCHOLARSHIP

Answered by GURUKID - 3 years ago

No, you don't have to take the PSAT. Its optional. But if you do take it, you'll most likely do better on the actual SAT! Its practice that you'll wish you would have gotten.

Answered by minime - 3 years ago

i say it depends on the school. some high schools actually require you to take the test to see how well you do on the practice test.

Answered by yvettekimmy - 3 years ago

no you don't have to. they are optional.

Answered by gibby. - 3 years ago

you are not required to take the test.

Answered by yvettekimmy - 3 years ago

i don't think you have to because its only practice right?

Answered by firedevilxx - 3 years ago

Answered by Stellaluna - 3 years ago

PSAT is just a practice run before you do the real SAT, you can just practice on your own. I went to school in Montreal( received a GREAT education up there) and took the SAT then. SAT is  the same for Canadian as well as any one in the whole world. Just study hard and you will do well. You really do not need the PSAT.

Answered by TerraCotta - 3 years ago

hmm then i guess you cant do it?

Answered by DanielB - 3 years ago

you HAVE to be an american citizen

Answered by Derrick033 - 3 years ago

i'm not sure. but other countries offer TOEFL instead of PSAT and stuff, but i guess if you do well on PSAT and you are an international student, you will be accept as one of the National Merit Scholars, and probably will be given scholarships. every programs and schools want good students, i guess it doesn't matter whether you are an International student.

Answered by Glee - 3 years ago

but, you probably have to be an american citizen

Answered by DoggiLov - 3 years ago

if the psat is offered in other countries, i don't see why not

Answered by DoggiLov - 3 years ago

I think you must be a US citizen or a US resident (or applied to be a US resident). You can read more here:

Answered by Mazzarella - 3 years ago

PSAT is a multiple-choice standardized test administered by the College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC).Usually high school juniors and sophomores take the test each year but more and more freshmen, 8th, and 7th graders have also begun taking this test.
